Peer Accompaniment Services

At the Bell Island Support Network (BISN), we believe that recovery is a journey best taken together. Our Peer Accompaniment Services provide compassionate support for individuals attending medical appointments, CSSD appointments, court or lawyer meetings, and other essential appointments. This program is a vital component of our comprehensive wrap-around services, designed to support clients on their path to recovery and well-being.

What We Offer:

Medical Appointments: Our trained peer support workers, at the request of a client, will accompany clients to medical appointments, offering emotional support, assistance with communication, and helping clients understand and follow through with medical advice and treatment plans.

CSSD Appointments: Navigating appointments with the Child, Youth and Family Services (CSSD) can be challenging. Our peer support workers and managers work together to provide guidance and support, ensuring clients feel empowered and understood throughout the process.

Court/Lawyer Meetings: Attending court or lawyer meetings can be overwhelming. Our peer support workers offer a reassuring presence, helping clients navigate legal proceedings and advocate for their rights and needs.

Why Peer Accompaniment Matters:

Emotional Support: Having someone by your side during important appointments can reduce anxiety, provide comfort, and build confidence.

Improved Communication: Peer support workers help facilitate effective communication between clients and professionals, ensuring that clients' questions and concerns are addressed.

Enhanced Advocacy: With the support of a peer worker, clients feel empowered to advocate for themselves and make informed decisions.

Holistic Care: Our Peer Accompaniment Services are part of BISN's holistic approach to care, addressing not just the immediate needs but also the overall well-being of our clients.

Wrap-Around Services:
At BISN, we offer a wide range of wrap-around services to support clients on their recovery journey. From harm reduction programs and life skills training to peer support meetings and social enterprises, we are committed to providing comprehensive care that addresses the diverse needs of our community.
